Tequila Lime Salt

Flavoring salt is so easy and there are so many different flavors that you can try. You can flavor salt with chili powder, paprika, dried herbs, citrus zest, etc. I saw a lime flavored salt and decided to try to make my own, but change it up and make Tequila Lime Salt. Because I used liquid, the salt needed time to dry out. I sped up this process by putting it in the oven on a low temperature.

This was perfect for flavoring my Pan Seared Chicken with Salsa and Lime (recipe coming soon) and was so simple. Of course this would be very yummy on the rim of a margarita glass :)

**I'm not quite sure how many servings this makes. I guess that depends on your preference for seasoning your food. Either way, it's only 1 point+ for the entire recipe. Essentially this will not add any points to your meals.**

Enjoy!
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup coarse sea salt
  • 1/2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/2 tbsp tequila
  • 2 tsp lime zest, divided

Preheat oven to 200 F.

Add salt, lime juice, 1 tsp lime zest, and tequila to a food processor. I used my mini food processor. Pulse a few times until all of the salt is coated with the liquid and the lime zest is mixed throughout.

Spread the salt mixture in an even layer on a baking sheet. Dry out in oven for 10 minutes. Remove and mix salt with a spatula and spread into an even layer once more. Put the salt back in the oven for 5 more minutes.

Remove from oven and add the remaining lime zest and mix throughout. Store in a spice jar or air tight container.

Love, Monica
