Servings: 4
Serving Size: 2 pieces and 1 1/2 tsp Cinnamon Honey Butter
WW Points+: 6
A classic French Toast that is lightened up with egg whites and light wheat bread is paired with a sweet cinnamon butter and light syrup. This French Toast is actually my boyfriend's recipe (I just encouraged him to use egg whites) and it came out great.
The sweet butter definitely added something special to this breakfast, but if you prefer not to use it, the Points+ are reduced to 5.
I used the Stop and Shop brand light wheat bread which is 40 calories per slice. Pepperidge Farm also has a similar light wheat bread which is 45 calories per slice. Just be sure to use a bread that is 1 Point+ or between 35 and 45 calories per slice to keep the points the same.
Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- Cooking Spray
- 8 slices Light Wheat Bread (35-45 calories per slice)
- 2 Whole Eggs
- 3 Egg Whites
- 1 1/2 tbsp Skim Milk
- 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 cup Light Syrup (I used Aunt Jemima Butter Light)
For the Cinnamon Honey Butter
- 1 1/2 tbsp Light Butter (I used I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Light)
- 1 tsp Honey
- 1/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Spray lightly with cooking spray.
Whisk the eggs, cinnamon, milk, and vanilla in a shallow dish until the eggs are broken up and all ingredients are combined well.
Dip the bread in the egg mixture, coating both sides. Allow the excess to drip off.
Cook bread on each side, until golden brown. Repeat with remaining slices. Place cooked slices on an oven safe dish in a 200 F oven until ready to serve. This keeps the slices warm if cooking in batches.
To make the Cinnamon Honey Butter, combine light butter, cinnamon, and honey in a small bowl. Mix until well combined.
Yields two slices of french toast, 1 1/2 tsp Cinnamon Honey Butter, and 2 tbsp light syrup per serving.
Enjoy!
Love, Monica
