Super Juicy Turkey Burgers

WW Points+ Without Bun: 4

I miss summer. Up here in New England we have no snow. I'm not complaining because I would prefer to not drive in the snow, but I would rather there be snow on the ground than have everything be brown and sad looking. Some days it is actually kind of warm (and by warm I mean about 50 degrees) so it does make me miss summer time. Also, my neighbors were grilling the other day so that really made me want this meal.

Ever since I can remember, my parents have made hamburgers with salsa, so I did too. It makes the burger very moist and adds a little kick of flavor and spice. I also added some fresh herbs and served these on reduced calorie, whole wheat buns.

I didn't account for my toppings in the points because everyone puts something different on their burgers. I put BBQ sauce, sauteed onions, lettuce, tomato, and fat free cheese on mine and it came out to about 8 points (1 Point+ for the cheese and 1 point+ for the BBQ sauce).

The day that I made these Super Juicy Turkey Burgers, it was freezing out. I would have felt bad making my boyfriend stand outside to grill (I certainly wasn't going to do it) so, we made these burgers in a very hot pan and they came out delicious. You can always cook these on the grill as well, just spray a little cooking spray so they don't stick, and the cooking time remains the same

We loved these burgers. We had them with a veggie loaded pasta salad (recipe coming soon!) and they were really filling. The whole meal made me think of summer time and barbecues. The warm weather can't come soon enough!

Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1.3 pounds 93% lean Ground Turkey
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp Salsa (I used Newman's Own Tequila Lime)
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley, chopped
  • Salt and Black Pepper
  • 6 Reduced Calorie Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns (2 Points+ each)
  • Your choice of toppings for extra points
  • Cooking Spray

Lightly spray a large skillet with non-stick cooking spray. Heat over medium-high heat.

Add ground turkey, salsa, parsley, salt and pepper to a mixing bowl. Combine so all of the herbs and salsa is mixed throughout the ground turkey. Form into 6 patties. Matt helped with this part so I could take pictures :)

Once the pan is hot, add the turkey burgers. Cook about 5 minutes per side, until the burger is cooked through and slightly charred.

Serve with your favorite toppings and enjoy!

Enjoy!
Love, Monica
